Hello BPA Parents/Supporters!
Welcome back! I hope that all of you had a great week off with family and friends! As we embark on the last few weeks of 2013, we have had an outstanding first semester! Learning is in full force for our students and we seek to reach new heights in academic performance at the end of the year. Our teachers are truly committed to student growth and providing students with the necessary support needed to master goals. This week also marks the beginning of December.
Please look in your childs' bookbag for the December calendar as a reminder of current events for the month. We will also send home communication about our upcoming Holiday Program so that all parents can plan accordingly. Just a few reminders:
1. CHICOBAG Fundraiser Money is due no later than Thursday, December 5 at 4pm. We hope that all of our students meet the goal of selling at least 10 Chicobags! Who will be the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners?
2. We are seeking donations of poinsettias for our school. We are trying to transform the school over the next week into "Holidays Around the World". Thanks in advance for donating poinsettias. Feel freet to donate one or fifteen! :)

Happy Gobbling BPA Parents/Supporters!
WOW!WOW!WOW! I am so excited this week! THANKS TO ALL OF THE PARENTS WHO JOINED ME IN MOVING MULCH THIS SATURDAY! Yes, I was able to burn lots of calories and move mulch at the same time. We had a blast and I truly enjoyed this time with our wonderful parents and supporters. A lot of work was done and I am personally humbled that such a small group of parents and supporters were able to make such progress! This week marks the launch of two awesome times for our school! Today marks the launch of BPA Science Week. For all of my new parents, this is one of the most exciting and fun-filled times for our students. We all love to watch them enjoy learning about Science in such an authentic way. All parents should have received our weekly itinerary last week which communicates our day by day events. PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO ATTEND SCIENCE NIGHT, TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 19TH AT 6PM. THIS IS A FAMILY EVENT! PLEASE SEND BACK YOUR RSVP SO THAT WE CAN PLAN ACCORDINGLY. We will also use this time at Science Night for our parents to take a very important survey as we prepare to submit our 21st CCLC grant, which is due very soon.
This week also begins the official first day of our BPA Fall Fundraiser! In support of our healthy eating and living focus, we have partnered with CHICO BAGS. CHICO BAGS helps schools raise money and fundraise by selling very nice and fashionable recycling totes. Your BPA Scholars will tell you all about it! We also have a very nice prize for the top sellers and classrooms with the highest number of sales. PLEASE LOOK IN YOUR CHILD'S BOOKBAG FOR FUNDRAISING INFORMATION PACKETS TODAY! We have set a goal and a challenge for every BPA student to sale at least 10 BAGS. We hope that you will support our school fundraiser. These proceeds will go towards school programming, teacher incentives, and school wide initiatives which need additional funding.

Hello BPA Parents/Supporters!
I am eager to begin another week of teaching and learning at Burgess-Peterson Academy! As we embark on another week of quality learning, I would like to also thank a few more parents who helped out for the Fall Festival. I appreciate all of our parents who go over and beyond to make sure that we are able to offer quality programming and events for our students, therefore I would like to thank Mr. Sherman Elliott and Mr. Karlief Legend for supporting the efforts behind ensuring our kids had a fun-filled MAZE! Burgess-Peterson Academy is a place where we believe in developing the whole child. Without our parents this could not be possible. We are extremely excited because our school is only ONE WEEK AWAY from our annual SCIENCE WEEK AT BPA! This annual event brings exposure to the wide world of Science for our students. Please check your child’s book bag/weekly courier for what this week will encompass. Science Week officially begins on Monday, November 18th. You don’t want to miss our Monday morning meeting where we will launch this event with a surprise! November 18th is also a very exciting day because we begin our BPA Annual Fundraiser which can you believe, aligns with Science? Please come out to our Monday meeting on November 18th at 8am for two big surprises related to Science….I am so excited I can hardly contain myself! Parents will also be in for a treat!
Please check your child’s book bag for school wide progress reports on Wednesday, November 13th. While it may seem that report cards were just sent out, our goal is to ensure that our parents are engaged in how our students are performing. If you do not receive a progress report, please contact your child’s teacher asap. Every student should receive a progress report on Wednesday.
I am asking for your support of two community service projects which are dually working towards providing needy families with a Thanksgiving dinner. Our Girl Scouts are collected non-perishable items and our Boy Scouts are collecting money to create Thanksgiving baskets. The Boy Scouts are planning to go to Turner Field with our Girl Scouts to deliver our perishable goods. We are so excited to see these two groups working closely together.
PLEASE SUPPORT THE BPA YEARBOOK THIS YEAR! Our goal is for every parent to purchase at least one yearbook to capture the many memories that just one year can bring. Please see the link in the blast to order. We have contracted with a professional company, Jostens , to create a beautiful product. The front and back cover will feature self-portraits done by our students! Thanks to Dr. Resler and Mrs. Honey Lathan for all of the hard work and efforts of putting this together. They also spend time working with our Yearbook Committee every week, which consists of our very own BPA students who are getting an early start on what it takes to produce a quality yearbook!
