We are truly off to a great start of our 2nd semester of the 2014-2015 school year! A very special thanks to all of our BPA parents and supporters for coming out to the first Maynard Jackson High School basketball cluster night this past Tuesday! We had a blast and our BPA Beats Pep Squad did a fantastic job! Thanks to Raven Grider (2nd grade teacher) and parent Jeane Fore for all of your hard work and dedication to our squad! They were awesome...such a class act!
Just a few reminders and updates for this week:
We have seen somewhat of an increase in the number of students over the past week being sent home with a "stomach bug". Please ensure that if your child presents symptoms such as fever, vomiting, and/or complaining of stomach pains, to please monitor them for at least 24 hours at home. Please also cooperate with our school nurse if you are asked to come and pick your child up early due to being ill. We have had our facilities department conduct a deep cleaning to assist us with germs. Please speak with your child about washing his/her hands. I will keep you all updated if this issue continues. We definitely want to maintain great attendance, however the safety and health of our BPA scholars and teachers is our top priority.
Progress reports will go home this Friday. Please ensure that if you have any questions as it relates to your child's academic/behavior in class, please contact your child's teacher. This grade will reflect academic performance January 6- January 23rd.
Accelerated Reader Reminder! The January AR challenge is almost over. Our students have until the end of this week, Friday, January 30th to read and take AR tests with a passing score in order to GO SKATING! Yes, all students who meet the AR challenge for the month of January will have the opportunity to go skating, February 12th with ME! Students will not be able to take any AR test after Friday to count towards our celebration. We will announce the February AR challenge on Monday, February 2nd!
PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD- OUR PRE-KINDER ROUND-UP IS THURSDAY, JANUARY 29TH AT 9AM. The pre-kinder lottery begins online February 2 and concludes February 27. We want the BPA Pre-kinder Program to continue to be a place for our young East Atlanta and surrounding communities four year olds to begin a top notch education!
Please come out to our PTA meeting this Tuesday, January 27th at 6pm. The class with the highest representation at the PTA meeting will receive a free pizza party this Friday!
Our school has been allocated several THOUSAND dollars from carryover funds from the federal Title I program. We need parent input on how we should spend these funds. Please come out to a parent Title I Planning meeting right before the PTA meeting at 5pm.
