We're entering the last week of the October Fire Up Your Feet Fall 2104 challenge and the Spark PE 25 Day challenge. As you're out and about this weekend, don't forget to log your activity and time at http://metroatl.fireupyourfeet.org and make sure your children's teachers know what they've done for the 25 Day challenge. These two activities are easy ways to earn money for BPA to fund various needs at the school.
Today is your last chance to save $2 on the cost of a Fall Festival wristband. This little piece of paper is your child's gateway to a world of fun at the BPA Fall Festival: unlimited games and activities (more than 20!), one hayride, one cake walk ticket, two turns in the bounce houses, one meal of a hotdog, chips, and a drink*. Purchase the wristband online at https://squareup.com/market/burgess-peterson-pta for $8 through Wednesday night. Thursday and Friday wristbands will be sold in person only for $10 at the BPA rotunda.
*Meal of hotdog, chips, and drink for BPA students only. Additional food for purchase at festival. Your mileage may vary.
One of the great activities of the Fall Festival is the cake walk. This is always a heavily attended booth, the kids love dashing for a seat for the chance of a cake to take home. We need you to bring in either homemade or store-bought cakes or cupcakes for this activity. Drop them off at the PTA booth in the rotunda Friday morning. Thanks!
During the PTA meeting (6pm, Tuesday, October 28th, at BPA) there will be a musical presentation. The second and third graders will present "Songs of Fall", lead by our very own Ms. Spatz. Please come out to hear their spooky and fun songs!
After Tuesday's PTA meeting (and Songs of Fall music from 2nd and 3rd grade) the PTA is sponsoring a harvest potluck. The featured items will incorporate vegetables harvested from the BPA school garden, including sweet potatoes and greens. If you're interested in cooking something with these items, please contact Melissa Bigelow at 404-543-7403. Harvest items can be picked up at the school Friday during or after the Fall Festival or Monday. Items not cooked fromthe garden are welcome as well, we need bread and dessert too. Please signup to let us know what you'll be bringing at http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0F4DA8AC2BABFD0-20141.

Greetings BPA Parents and Supporters!
I hope that everyone was able to enjoy the beautiful fall weather that we experienced this past weekend. This week marks the beginning of a very important week at BPA! This week begins our Fall Conference Week where parents and teachers have time to actually discuss academic strengths and areas of growth for our children. Please take advantage of this time in the best interest of our students. Monday, October 27, 2014 is the last Fall conference week day. If you have not received a sign up form, please contact the main office to find out how you can sign up for a conference!
Friday, October 24, 2014 is our Fall Festival. Our PTA has worked very hard to put on a great time for our students. I am asking all parents to please see any member of the PTA to sign up to volunteer. We need all hands on deck to make this work. A special snaps to all of the parents who came out this past Sunday for Fall Festival Work Day. Volunteers are needed as early as 8am this Friday to help out with set-up. I hope to see all of you at some point during the day. Please ensure that you send back the permission form for your child to participate. Students may wear costumes to the Fall Festival only. All costumes must be child-friendly.
Fall Picture Day has been rescheduled for October 29th. Our school has been given a huge donation from Scholastic which entails every student receiving 5 free books! Our school will also receive a Reading Oasis, which is a room filled with over 1200 books, brand new furniture, and rugs. The big day is October 28th. Please join us for our kick-off celebration at 8:30am that day where we will have volunteers from Rubbermaid, the company making most of this day possible! Don’t forget to send back all media release forms for your child to be photographed and/or videotaped that day.
Have a great week and don’t forget to be sure to engage in a Fall conference with your child’s teacher!
