This week marks our official CRCT week at BPA! We are so excited for our students and how well our teachers have prepared them with a deep understanding of the curriculum and content. Many of you all were able to witness first hand the excitement and motivation of our students during our CRCT Pep Rally with Maynard Jackson High School Marching Band, as well as Gutsy the Flying Fox last Thursday and our Study Island Luau held on Friday!
Students in grades 3rd-5th will begin CRCT Testing this Wednesday, April 23rd and continue through next Tuesday, April 29th. Students in grades 3rd-5th were given a letter to give to parents last week with detailed information on what is expected to support our students. From a principal's perspective, as a parent and an educator, I would suggest that parents ensure that students arrive to school on time, early enough to not feel rushed, as well as eat a healthy breakfast free of sugar, and help students relax each day. It is also vital that students are present every day to prevent engaging in make-up testing. Let them know that you believe in them and that you know that they will do an outstandinding job. Simply put, ask them to do his/her very best. CRCT testing is our official gauge of the quality of our instructional program as measured by the state's curriculum. While testing may not measure the whole child, it does provide a very comprehensive overview of academic strengths and weaknesses.
We will celebrate our Mothers and Sons this Saturday, April 26th at our Mother/Son Dance. Please see your invitation for additional information.
Crim High School, located just behind our school, has planned a Fun Fitness Day for our students in grades pre-k through 2nd grade, for this Friday, April 25th. We are so excited! We need as many parent volunteers to assist us. We are planning to walk and leave the school around 12 noon. If you are able to help out, please email your child's teacher. Once again, this is for students in grades pre-k through 2nd grade. We will arrive back to the school around 2pm.
Please be reminded that during CRCT testing, parents are not permitted inside of the building past the main office. Thanks in advance for helping us to secure a supervised testing environment. The main office will deliver any messages, etc. during this time.
Have a great week! Let us all wish our students in grades 3rd-5th grade the best of luck. As Gutsy, the Flying Fox stated.....WE WILL "SLAM" THE CRCT!
