This past week was awesome! We had the opportunity to host volunteers with Philanthropy in the Classroom for all of our 2nd and 3rd graders on Wednesday, September 10th. On that same day we hosted our very own First Lady of Georgia, Mrs. Deal. She had a great time in the garden and reading to the pre-kinder students in Ms. Rance's classroom. Our pre-kinder students were very inquisitive and shared great stories as well! Mrs. Deal ended her visit with a brief chat with the students in Mrs. Reese's 2nd grade classroom. A very special snaps to Ms. Michelle and Ms. Rebecca for being awesome garden volunteers and going over and beyond to open up our garden for so many people beyond our school!
Our week ended with so much fun and lots of laughter! Our Grandparents Day was a huge success! We had over 250 grandparents visit with us and they truly love us at BPA! We are so appreciative for your support of our Science Week 2014! Our grandparents donated over 1000$ to help fund Science Week! Thank you!
Friday involved our school participating in the Jackson cluster night! Even though the rain cut our time with the rest of our friends in the cluster, we were still able to engage in going out on the field at half-time. Our very own "BPA Beats" Cheer Squad did an outstanding job and gave us lots of school spirit. A special thanks to Ms. Grider (2nd grade teacher) and Mrs. Fore ( parent) for all of your hard work with pom poms, bows, and a very huge sign! We are also appreciative to eveyone who helped to raise over 600$ on GOFUNDME to help with purchasing uniforms. They arrived just in timeThursday, one day before the game! BPA truly represented and I am honored to serve as the principal of such an involved school.
As we go into the new week, we are very excited about our upcoming EAV 5K and STRUT parade on Saturday, September 27th. Please look for additional information to come home about both events. We are asking for 100% participation for all BPA students and families in the run. We also hope that everyone can make the parade that day as we seek to retain our Kids Choice Award!
While high quality teaching and instruction is our number one goal and priority each day, it is very important that we optimize opportunities for our students and families to connect with our broader East Atlanta community! Our vision is that our school will become the number ONE school of choice and are daily actions continue to help us meet this goal.
All parents, please ensure that you are receiving weekly communication from your child's teacher. This is a great way to stay connected and know what your child is learning each and every day in the classroom, as well as to stay connected with current and upcoming school events.
Have a great week BPA and I am so honored to serve all of you! BPA Rocks!
