This is an exciting week for us at BPA! This week is Science Week! All students were sent home last week with a Science Week flyer. I hope that everyone can make it tomorrow evening at 6pm for Science Night! Science Night will begin at 6pm with COOL experiments by some of our very own BPA students! You don’t want to miss Science Night! We will have pizza for sale in case you want to purchase food for the family. The cost of a slice of pizza and drink is only $3.00!
Today marks the beginning of our CHICO FUNDRAISING. This is a great WINTER fundraiser which we host each year along with Science Week! The proceeds from our Winter fundraising helps us with the innovative programming that makes BPA a cool place to learn for children. Our goal is for every student to sale at least $30 worth of CHICO sales. If each BPA family does his/her part, then we will can raise almost $4,000 for innovative programming and more field trips for our students. Please see the flyer for more information. Order forms will be sent home this week for you all to begin helping our school. Be creative in marketing. Last year, our highest seller even made a YouTube video which she shared with family and friends. Thanks in advance for your support of our CHICO fundraiser as we work to help the environment and raise funds for our school.
The new Accelerated Reader challenge is right upon us! Today during Monday morning meeting, we announced the top five readers per grade level. It is not too late for your child to be in the rankingJ. Our new AR challenge for the month of November is all k-2 students should read and take the AR test for 5 books and for students in grades 3rd-5th grade, they should read and take AR tests for 2 chapter books! I know that we can all reach this goal. Reading opens the door to lots of information!
Our tutorial is well underway for students kinder through 5th grade. In addition to our normal tutorial on Wednesdays, every student needing additional support will receive tutorial on Mondays and Thursdays until4:30pm. We have a cadre of 12 BPA educators providing this additional instructional time. If you would like for your child to participate, please ensure that you have turned in his/her permission slip or please feel free to speak with your child’s teacher if they have not received a permission slip and you would like for them to participate. The tutorial program will end before the December holiday break. Thanks to our supporters from the Zeist Foundation for making this opportunity a feasible one for our kids.
THE EAST REGION Attendance Trophy remains at Burgess-Peterson Academy for the having the best attendance rate for the month of OCTOBER! Thanks to all of my parents for helping us with meeting this regional challenge. Our neighboring schools have all claimed the trophy next month…let us do our very best to keep the trophy at BPA!
Our school wide tutorial is cancelled this Wednesday only. Our teachers need to participate in a very important technology training.
Over the next few days the temperature is predicted to be very cold. Please ensure that we send our children to school with hats, coats, and gloves to protect them from the very cold temps.
Just a reminder that next week is district wide Thanksgiving Break. Enjoy and ensure that our kids continue to read, read, and read!
