We had a very busy and eventful week last week. I am so excited that we are only within a few weeks of the first day of spring. As we venture into another week at BPA, let me first say that I was rather disappointed that we had to cancel Mardi Gras Math Night. Putting students and families safe is our first priority, therefore the cold temps would have made it rather harsh to venture back out that evening. We have been able to secure a new date, which is Tuesday, March 3RD at 6pm. Please send back your NEW RSVP as we were also able to reschedule the caterer. Dinner will be served at 5:30pm and we will still have fun and organized childcare for school age (pre-kinder through 5th grade). We have also been able to reschedule all guest speakers and keep the same activities to help inform parents of how to support our students with mathematics. I truly hope that we will have double the numbers. Mardi Gras Math Night is a teacher led event, therefore I am hopeful that parents will take full advantage of the opportunity as teachers have worked very hard to make the event worthwhile.
We also had to cancel our Father and Daughter Dance due to low ticket sales. We have tentatively rescheduled the event which will be shared hopefully by tomorrow. Thanks for your understanding as well. The Mother and Son event date will also be shared very soon as well.
This Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at 6pm is our PTA meeting. Our kinder and 1st grade students will be featured in a choral production. After PTA business, our administrative team will share very insightful information about the upcoming Georgia Milestones Assessment coming up in April. All parents should make every effort to attend as the state of Georgia has modified the state assessment in many different ways.
As we end this month, we are also embarking on the culmination of Black History Month. We have had a daily trivia to expose the students to key facts and key figures via the morning announcements. This week will mark several different activities. Please see the attached document which was also sent home this past Friday.
Have a great week BPA!
